Dr. Ochs and his dedicated staff are very experienced at performing Chemical Peels and managing patient expectations. We have performed thousands of them. Trust a skin care professional when it comes to the treatment of your skin.
How do they work?
All chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to the skin which, after a day or so, begins to peel off. This process is used on the face, but also on the neck, chest and hands if needed. Varying strengths of the solutions applied determine whether you will have a light or medium peeling. After the skin loosens and falls away, new skin is allowed to appear from underneath. You will see a difference in skin color, texture and tone. The skin feels softer, smoother and has a healthy glow to it.
How will a peel make me look younger?
Chemical peels are especially effective in erasing fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth, for smoothing areas of rough skin, and eliminating small scars. A peel also can create a more even skin tone by lightening freckles, sun or age spots, or even blotches from medications, such as birth control pills. However, it is important to understand peels cannot remove deep scars, tighten sagging skin, reduce large pore size or eliminate tiny broken blood vessels on the face or nose.
What will the treatment be like?
On the day of treatment, a resurfacing chemical agent will be applied to your skin. The type of chemical agent used will be selected based on your skin type, the expected results from treatment and the amount of time your schedule allows for healing.
We offer the following types of peels:
TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) Peel
TCA peels are medium depth chemical peels that rejuvenate and repair your skin. They improve skin discoloration, reduce fine lines, and even out skin texture. They also cause your skin to physically peel, so they will require around a week of downtime. However, the results are usually well worth the wait! TCA peels brighten and even out your skin tone by reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation (dark spots, acne marks, sun spots, freckles) and skin discoloration. Because of their deep exfoliating effects, TCA peels can clean out congested pores to refine the surface of your skin.
TCA peels can be used on the face, neck, or back of the hands. They can also be used all over the face or just as a spot peel. One TCA peel will generally give better results than one glycolic acid peel, but more than one TCA peel is still recommended for the best results. Results generally last around 6 months, but may last longer when supplemented with glycolic or lactic acid peels.
The Vi Peel contains a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types. The Vi Peel provides dramatic results with virtually no pain, no skin preparation and little downtime. This superficial peel will improve the tone, texture, and clarity of the skin while reducing or eliminating age spots, freckles, and hyperpigmenation, including melasma. The VI Peel also helps soften fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production, clear acne skin conditions, and correct acne scarring. The skin is left firmer and more youthful.
The application process can take up to 30 minutes and involves the chemical solution being topically applied to the skin. The peel is then left on the skin for five hours and washed off by the patient at home. Some patients experience light stinging during application, which subsides quickly.
